This job description is for an Operations Excellence Manager, who will be responsible for driving improved results through the implementation of various operational excellence initiatives and methodologies. This person should have a strong background in Total Performance Management (TPM), Lean Six Sigma (DMAIC, DFSS etc.), and other operational excellence methodologies.
The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or Supply Chain, a Six Sigma Green Belt, and at least 5 years of supervisory experience. Furthermore, they should have a successful record of implementing improvement projects that lead to measurable financial savings in a sustainable way. The candidate should also have experience in leading project teams and departments, and have a strong analytical mindset and project management experience.
The Operations Excellence Manager will champion and foster a consistent, data-driven, continuous improvement mindset throughout all the departments and employees within the plant. They will clearly communicate the vision and translate it with the strategy and tactics necessary to drive improved results. Additionally, they will identify, justify, prioritize, and implement improvement initiatives to deliver measurable and sustainable results. The Manager will expand the use of Lean Six Sigma mindset, TPM- Total Performance Management (Pillars approach, also called WCM or IWS) and other operations excellence methodologies and tools, including Daily Management system, DMAIC, Kaizen, 5S, OEE, and waste minimization activities. They will also prepare, communicate, and engage stakeholders on OPEX rollout plan for the plant, and partner with cross-functional owners to identify and establish relevant key performance indicators (KPIs).
The Manager should be familiar with and drive the organization toward standards that exceed recognized industry best practices. They should also coach Department managers/pillar leaders to drive the implementation and execution alongside the plant operational excellence teams, and assist in training, coaching and assessing the plant autonomous and improvement teams. Furthermore, they should build organizational capability and engagement by mentoring site leaders and facilitating change management activities to support a lean thinking enterprise. Lastly, they should develop a capability building strategy and its training solutions to advance critical competences across the workforce and to infuse a continuous improvement culture across all levels of the organization.
